1.1 Shift Start-Up & Planning
- Does the supervisor conduct a structured start-of-shift review?
- Before production begins, we assess staffing, skills coverage, and constraints.
- We identify risks to safety, quality, and delivery prior to shift execution.
- Are clear priorities set for the shift beyond general output targets?
- Is there a defined plan for how the shift will meet production requirements?
1.2 In-Shift Direction & Adjustment
- Does the supervisor actively monitor performance during the shift?
- Are deviations from plan identified early rather than at end of shift?
- Are adjustments made proactively when conditions change?
- Are priorities re-communicated when disruptions occur?
- The supervisor proactively manages shift events rather than waiting to react to problems.
1.3 End-of-Shift Closure
- Is shift performance reviewed against plan before handoff?
- Unresolved issues are clearly documented and communicated before shift end.
- Are key learnings captured for the next shift?
- Before shift end, accountability for open actions is assigned to specific owners.
- Handoff communication clearly sets up the next shift with resolved issues and documented context.
